5/19 - Holland, Michigan

Lake Michigan at Saugatuck, MI

Giant wooden shoe - Zeeland, MI

Pulled out of Detroit at 10:18 a.m. It was in the 50's and cloudy. Bought 18.598 gallons of gas at $3.299 per gallon.

Finally got to Zeeland, MI (near Holland)! It's a great campground with a small lake in the center of it. Sign in the office read: Visitors bring joy to this office - some when they enter and some when they leave.

One of our neighbors is a asphalt truck racer and pit crew member of another team. He's truck is #33 and he runs in the Midwest League.

Decided to head for Holland. Last week they had their tulip festival. The town was very clean and had a lot of shops, but they were the same shops we have at home. Most of the tulips are gone, but the ones we did see were gorgeous! There was a wedding going on in a small church. Someone was playing with the flower girl just inside the door before the wedding ended. She was so cute!

We had a not so good map of the area that wasn't to scale. We got to the flower gardens and Dutch shoe making shop - just as they closed for the weekend. We decided to head back and get dinner, but saw a Ponderosa Steak House and decided we'd try it. BIG MISTAKE! The waitress even said the place should have closed years ago!

Fuel again - $3.319 and 18.535 gallons. They also sold worms - "18 Canadian nightcrawlers or 30 worms $3.79. Decided not to fish today!

We had our first view of Lake Michigan! We drove to Saugatuck, MI and drove through the town. Lots of artists live there and it was absolutely beautiful! One house was a mill house with a working water wheel. Another had all colors of tulips planted there. One had black tulips in front of the house!

Quiet evening...walked the dog, watched some tv, off to bed!

See ya down the road!

Jenny :)

Got a picture of a HUGE wooden shoe, but don't have the camera with me right now. Will upload it later.
